Corrine Halstead, Owner & Lead Inspector
Corrine started Level Two Chimney Worcester in 2009 after six years of subcontracting sweeps across central Massachusetts and getting tired of watching homeowners sign blank work orders while creosote was still clinging to the smoke chamber walls. She holds CSIA certification and performs the majority of NFPA 211 Level 2 inspections herself, which means she’s the one crawling the flue with the camera when a liner shows suspicious gaps or a crown’s got spalling that doesn’t show from the ground. She keeps a logbook of every chimney she’s touched since 2009, 38,000 and counting, and she’ll tell you without prompting that the worst flue she ever encountered was a triple-wall system in Grafton Hill that hadn’t seen a brush since 1996. “Clinton administration,” she’ll say, and then she’ll tell you exactly how long the relining took and what DuraFlex alloy they used.
Marcus T., Senior Installer & Masonry Lead
Marcus came to us in 2015 from a Worcester masonry outfit that did historic repointing on the Triple-Deckers along Mill Street, so he reads brick and mortar the way some people read road signs. He handles crown rebuilds, cricket installations on steep-pitch roofs, and the full chimney teardowns when spalling has compromised the wythe. He’s HeatShield certified for smoke chamber parging and prefers Olympia Chimney’s stainless liners for their gauge consistency on Worcester’s older, offset flues. Off the job, he restores vintage motorcycles in a garage in Quinsigamond Village and has been known to diagnose a cracked flue liner by describing the sound it makes when you tap it, which he demonstrated once on a training ride-along using a ball-peen hammer and a coffee thermos.
Dana K., Service Coordinator
Dana answers the phones and schedules the routes, which means she’s the live voice at (978) 307-8288 when you call at 10 PM because you smelled something acrid after the first fire of the season. She’s been with us since 2018 and has the Haven Standard clauses memorized by number, so when she says Clause 1 guarantees your written price before anyone starts, she’s not reading from a card. She grew up in Burncoat, still lives there, and knows which streets in Worcester have the parking restrictions that affect our van access and which don’t. She texts customers when their tech is en route, assigns the named technician to each job, and keeps a personal spreadsheet of repeat customers’ flue configurations so she doesn’t waste their time asking questions we’ve already documented.
Jesse R., Apprentice Technician
Jesse joined us in 2023 after two years in HVAC duct cleaning and a brief, self-described “disastrous” attempt at residential plumbing. He’s pursuing his CSIA certification and currently handles the initial brush-and-vacuum sweeps, setup and breakdown of camera equipment, and the documentation photos that Clause 4 of the Haven Standard requires on every visit. Corrine shadows him on Level 2 inspections until he’s cleared to sign off on flue condition reports solo. He lives in Lincoln Village, grew up in a house with a working fireplace his father never once swept, and cites that as his origin story. He’s the one most likely to ask if he can show you the creosote sample he pulled from your flue, because he genuinely thinks it’s interesting, and he’s usually right.
